China published proposals for its equivalent to the EU REACH regulations in May 2009. This aims to control the manufacture, import and use of chemicals and has similarities with the EU REACH regulations. The original proposals included very few obligations that affected substances in "articles", as fabricated products are referred to by EU REACH, although it is clear that some of the most hazardous substances could eventually be phased out in China and this could affect the availability of some process materials and possibly also fabricated products.

Energy Star ratings for servers had been released, but it does not go nearly far enough. As a start, it doesn't cover blade servers, blade servers are at the core of virtualization projects, which can save dramatic amounts of energy and money. And the other problem is that the Energy Star specifications measure server use when the server is idle. The agency is currently at work on a Tier 2 specification which will measure server energy use when a server actually does work.

A) The German branch of environmental group Friends of the Earth（BUND）, had shortly launch a campaign to encourage German consumers to ask companies whether products contain substances of very high concern (SVHCs).

The Acer Aspire 3811TZ and Aspire 3811TZG laptop models are made without the use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs), both of which pose considerable risks to humans and the environment.

The European Chemicals Agency has added 14 substances of very high concern (SVHC) to the REACH candidate list of 15 substances originally published on 28 October 2008.

修正草案重點包括：

依據中國《電子資訊產品污染控制管理辦法》規定和《電子資訊產品污染控制重點管理目錄制定程式》要求，中國工業和信息化部(MIIT)於2009年10月9日公布《電子資訊產品污染控制重點管理目錄（第一批）》，公開徵求產業界之企業意見。意見徵詢期間將於2009年11月9日截止。
